About the Darnell Rucker Scholarship AND the
Myrtle Geeston Walker HBCU Scholarship Programs
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter
awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors and transferring community college students who reside in/or
attend school in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, or Simi Valley communities through the
Darnell Rucker Scholarship and the Myrtle Geeston Walker HBCU Scholarship*.
Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,000 for high school students enrolling in a 4-year college/university and to community college students transferring to a 4-year college/university. $250 to $500 for students enrolling in a 2-year college.
*Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter encourages students to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
