Target 5: Global Impact

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha will work to enhance its international footprint.

National Global Impact Day. Chapter members will provide community service that has a international impact and will partner with organizations that make a worldwide difference.

Global Assistance Activities.  Alpha Kappa Alpha will work in partnerships that provide assistance to international areas that lack resources that are populated by people of color. The partnerships are:

Soles 4 Souls. Chapters will collect gently used shoes and take the shoes to specified locations. Soles4Souls mission is to create sustainable jobs and provide relief through the distribution of shoes worldwide.

Lions Club International. Chapters will donate used eyeglasses in partnership with its local Lions Club. This initiative is designed to help restore eyesight, prevent blindness, and improve eye health and eye care for millions around the world.

Pillowcase Project. Chapter members will continue to use pillowcases to make dresses for little girls and will now include efforts to make shirts for little boys. The pillowcase dresses and shirts will be sent to Haiti to provide clothing for children in need.

Refugees in America Assistance Program (RAAP). Chapters will partner with organizations in support activities that assist refugees of color and their families to integrate into American life. These activities will include educational training, literacy classes, and other transitional support.
