Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. chapters encourage students to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through marketing and promotion including the recognition of notable Alpha Kappa Alpha members and other significant HBCU attendees.

Notable HBCU Graduates

Over half of all African-American professionals are HBCU graduates. Some of the most notable HBCU alumni are professionals in award-winning careers. Many are also members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. such as Vice-President of the United States Kamala Harris, business professional Rosalind Brewer, actress Phylicia Rashad, and former Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. International President Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover.

Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, Ph.D, JD, CPA

Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover was the 2018-2022 International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Dr. Glover has over 25 years of success in business and academics. Currently, she is the president of her undergraduate alma mater, Tennessee State University. She was initiated at the school's Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 1971. Dr. Glover earned her MBA from Clark Atlanta University. Lastly, she worked as Dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University from 1994-2012.

Rosalind Brewer

​Rosalind Brewer is the first African American and first woman to hold the position of Chief Operating Officer and group President of Starbucks. Ms. Brewer graduated from Spelman College in 1984. She was also initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in the Mu Pi Chapter at Spelman.
